Description
Cabinet to be informed of the recommendation to Queen Victoria for the appointment of Mr G.J. Goschen to the Duchy of Lancaster. Question of seat in cabinet to be discussed. Henry Fenwick recommended as Civil Lord Admiralty, on the transference of Mr Hugh Childers to the Treasury. His services in connection with Fishery affairs. Lord Russell's recommendation of Mr William Monsell for the Vice-Presidency of the Board of Trade. Mr A.H. Layard's readiness to accept the post of Director of the National Gallery provisionally, without salary. Lord Russell's recommendation of the offer being accepted.
