Description
Sir Charles Eastlake's opinion cited as to Mr William Boxall (after Sir) being the best person to succeed him as Director of the National Gallery. Sir Edwin Landseer's view of the desirability of choosing an artist and recommendation of Mr Boxall. Right Honourable Edward Cardwell's support of his candidature. Mr Boxall submitted by Lord Russell for appointment as Director. Lady (Elizabeth) Eastlake's (widow of Sir Charles Eastlake) thanks for the pension granted to her, conveyed to Queen Victoria (not included).
