Description
Lord Derby (Edward Geoffrey, 14th Earl) to General Grey on the state of his health. Lord Derby on Queen Victoria's letter to the King of Prussia on the question of Luxembourg. His fear of Queen Victoria's intervention being unsuccessful. Significance of Bismarck's absence from his post. Lord Derby on General Charles Grey's desire to be recognised as Her Majesty's Private Secretary, waiving the question of salary. The objection to the appointment 'the merest pedantry'. His readiness to insert a notification of it in "The Gazette", subject to the understanding mentioned. Successor proposed to the Honourable Rear Admiral James Robert Drummond R.N. at the Admiralty.
