Comment on the proposal of Captain Clive and Admiral Duncombe. Lord Derby's proposals for filling Irish Legal Offices: Lord Justice Blackburne (Right Honourable Francis Blackburne) to be temporarily Lord Chancellor; Mr J. Napier Lord Justice of Appeal; Mr J. Whiteside Lord Chief Justice, Queen's Bench, succeeding Chief Justice Lefroy (Right Honourable Thomas Lefroy), who is willing to resign. Impossibility of introducing Mr Brewster into any of the Legal Offices, in view of the political feeling against him. Hopes of a future fusion of parties, by the present proposals.
