Recommendations for Knighthoods: John Gilbert (after Sir), Mr F.P. Smith (for the introduction of the Screw Propeller) and J.J. Chalk. Mr W. Dougal Christie recommended for a Civil Companionship (C.B.). Mr J. Paget recommended for a Baronetcy. Lord Powerscourt and Lord Southwell recommended for the Order of St. Patrick, under the new arrangement approved by Queen Victoria. Banners in St Patrick's Cathedral not to be removed.
