Description
Australia's demands for the power to establish distinctive customs duties and against being bound by the Treaty engagements of Great Britain, considered by Cabinet. Mr Gladstone on the absence of any desire on the part of Cabinet to promote any discussion on the payment of income tax by Queen Victoria (in connection with Sir Charles Dilke's request for information). Dispatch to Lord Lyons considered by Cabinet regarding the date of the denunciation of the Anglo-French commercial treaty, and the statements as to the British Government's views made to the Assembly.
