Description
Mr Disraeli's proposals for honours for the civic authorities of London on the occasion of their entertainment of Alexander Il, Czar of Russia, after Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh's wedding. His disapproval of the habit of hereditary dignities being conferred on Civic authorities as a matter of course on these occasions. John W. Ellis and the Sheriffs of the City of London (Mr Whetham and John Henry Johnson) recommended for Knighthoods. The Lord Mayor of London proposed for a Baronetcy.
