Description
General Ponsonby on his conversation with Lord Beaconsfield. Lord J. Manners' readiness to accept the office of Lord Privy Seal, in spite of having to stand for re-election as a result of omission in the Act, the office being regarded as one for a Peer only. Lord Sandon's refusal of the office of Postmaster General, in view of the unpopularity of the Post Office in Liverpool. Suggested delay in the announcement of Queen Victoria's visit to Manchester.
