Description
Lord Beaconsfield on the Ministry's weakness in the House of Lords; insufficient support from Queen Victoria's Household. Lord Torrington's (Lord-in-Waiting) failure to keep his promise of support. Suggestion as to Her Majesty's occasionally summoning an elder son of a Peer or other gentleman. Sir Richard Airey and Mr Augiste Dupré suggested for Peerages, in order to strengthen the Government in the House of Lords. Lord Beaconsfield to Queen Victoria on Robert Jocelyn, 4th Earl of Roden's permission to remain.
