Gladstone discovers no decline in Granville George, 2nd Earl Granville's tact and vigour in dealing with his duties, in spite of his declining health. The death of the Bishop of Llandaff (Reverend Alfred Ollivant) involves Gladstone in difficulties as to a new appointment.
